Albert Henry Ludwig, age 80, of rural Pardeeville, passed away Friday, May 15, 2026 at his residence. He was born July 1, 1945 in Portage to Henry and Marie Martha (Meyer) Ludwig.
Albert attended Wyocena Grade School and graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1963. He married Margaret “Peggy” Hewitt and together they were blessed with three children, twins Deanne and Gary, and Todd. Later he married Thyra Jean Hart, and they shared 33 years together.
Albert was a dairy farmer who dedicated much of his life to working the land, including having pigs. In addition to farming, he had a shop where he did welding, auto and boat mechanics, and worked many years at Portage Plastics and Spartech. He was known for his strong work ethic and ability to fix just about anything.
He greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting and was active with the local snowmobile club. Albert especially treasured the time he shared at his shop, teaching his kids and their friends, how to do things.
He is survived by his wife Thyra; daughter Deanne (John) Sasak; son Todd Ludwig; grandchildren April (Jeremy) Yonkie, Russell Ludwig, Aaron Ludwig, Nicole (Eric) Tindell, Joshua Ludwig, Ashley (Tyler) Amherdt, and Liberty Rose Ludwig; step-children Roger (Linda) Erdmann, Veronica Erdmann, Adam (Cassandra) Erdmann and Roy (Nicole) Erdmann; 6 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He is further survived by Mindy (Carl), his step daughter in-law, her family, as well as his first wife Peggy Gray.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Marie Ludwig; son Gary Ludwig; step-son Carl Erdmann; and grandson Jacob Ludwig.
Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 5:00 P.M. at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville with Rev. Mark Brandel officiating. Visitation will start at 2:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home, which will be followed by food and fellowship.
