William G. “Bill” Kalrath, 87 of King, formerly of Fall River, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 2, 2019 at the King Veterans Home.
He was born January 4, 1932 in Madison, the son of George and Helen (Olson) Kalrath. He attended high school in Madison. In 1951, Bill was a proud veteran. He enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Camp Pendleton, California involved in bomb testing in the Nevada desert. He was united in marriage to Joan Edgren April 24, 1954. Bill was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, then later the U.W. Postal Service until his retirement. They retired and moved to Fall River. Bill enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and visiting the casinos.
Survivors include his wife Joan; in-laws Jerry (Nancy) Edgren, Betty (Phil) Ingwell, and Nancy (John) Hilliard; two sisters-in-law Pat Edgren and Joan Edgren, and many, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert (Arlene) Kalrath, sister Gilma (Donald) Sunderledge, nephews Darell Sunderledge, Richard Lentz, Jr., and Philip Edgren; father and mother-in-law; five sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law, and Bill’s favorite pet, Dick the Duck.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 7 at 11 AM at Grasse Funeral Home, 401 Angel Way, Rio. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service. Burial will full military honors will be held Thursday, June 13 at 11 AM at Central Wisconsin Veteran Cemetery in King. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to King Veteran’ Home or Steven’s Point Heartland Hospice.
