William S. Payne, Jr.

William “Bill” S. Payne Jr., 75 of Portage, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 peacefully at the Columbia Healthcare Center in Wyocena.

He was survived by his loving wife Laura Payne of Portage; son William Payne of Pardeeville and his children Krystalyn, Marrisa, and Bethany Payne; mother of his children Dawn Payne of Portage; as well as, his daughter Diana (John) Schieber of Baraboo and their children Artan Cholaku and Johnathan Schieber.  He is also survived by 3 sisters which include Barb Dalton (Bill Hayes), Kay (Alfred) Haberkorn of Dalton, and Leona (Charles) McLaughlin of Black River Falls. 

He is further survived by aunt Margaret Becker; brother-in-law Jon (Loretta) Johnson of Rockford, IL; sister-in-law Lorene (Jeff Wolsfelt) McMurray of Portage; brother-in-Law Carl Hepler of Portage; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Evelyn (Becker) Payne, sister and brother-in-law Janice and Richard Lang; three uncles, Roger Becker, Carl Becker, and Bernard Bauman; two aunts, Ruth Becker and Wanda Bauman.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 10 at 2:30 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville with Chaplain Gloria Stubitsch officiating. Inurnment will follow at Silver Lake Cemetery in Portage. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the time of services.  The family would like to thank the staffs of Agrace Hospice and the Columbia Healthcare Center for the wonderful care they gave Bill.
