Tony R. Baillies

Tony R. Baillies, 80, of Pardeeville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at the Columbia County Health Care Center in Wyocena.  

Tony was born September 15, 1938, in Portage, the son of Bernard B. and Cecil J. (Lange) Baillies. He grew up in Wyocena and graduated from Pardeeville High School, where he captured numerous letters in basketball, baseball, football, track and curling. Tony served in the United States ARMY and Wisconsin National Guard. On December 7, 1963, he married Rita Morris. Once married, Tony spent his time raising his family and protecting the community, holding jobs in law enforcement and corrections. At 28 years old, Tony was hired as the Pardeeville Chief of Police. He later moved into corrections, and retired from Columbia Correctional Institution in 1996.

Throughout his life, Tony liked to travel, play cards and support the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. He was also an avid outdoorsman, spending time hunting, fishing and in nature. In his later years, Tony especially enjoyed going for rides in the country to look for wildlife with his sons.

Tony is survived by his children, Daniel (Nancy) Baillies, Pardeeville, Lois Baillies, Pardeeville, Joseph (Michele) Baillies of Pardeeville, Patrick (Cassie Ripp) Baillies of Portage, and Nicholas (Craig Kramer) Baillies of Madison; brother, David Baillies, Pardeeville, along with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Rita, and his parents.

There will be a celebration of Tony’s life at Grasse Funeral Home, Pardeeville, on Thursday, November 15. Visitation begins at 4 PM until the time of service at 6 PM with a dinner will follow.
