Doylestown - Sandra Lee Raley died on December 19, 2015 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born September 16, 1947 to Harold and Evelyn (Seekamp) Steinhoff, the 11th of 12 children.  She grew up on a farm and was affectionately nicknamed “Poochie” because of her love for dogs. She was united in marriage to Referd Raley on December 6, 1975. She was homemaker for her children and operated an in-home daycare for many years.  She was very active in her children’s sporting lives and started the Columbus Youth Wrestling Program in 1987.  After her son died of meningitis in 2000, she started and ran the Dustin Raley Memorial Kickball Tournament which raised over 100,000 dollars for the Columbia County Dept. of Health to administer meningococcal vaccinations free of charge. She also was active with many other fundraisers which are too numerous to list.

Her passion was her flower beds, which were original and one of a kind as she designed and placed the plantings her way.  Her hobbies included painting ceramics, making doll houses and their furniture, going to garage sales and reading.  If something needed to be done, she did it and was the hardest worker anyone has met.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Referd Raley and children Todd (Lisa) Raley, Tanya Raley, Renee (Bob) Robbins, Referd Raley Jr, Dan (Sabrina) Raley and Kassi Raley and 10 grandkids and 3 great-grandchildren and siblings Joyce (Richard) Mlsna, Donald (Mary) Steinhoff, Delores (Donald) Squire, Mary Jane Foster, Betty (Dale) Heilman, Vernon (Teddy) Steinhoff, Richard (Lorraine) Steinhoff, Eugene (Kay) Steinhoff, Alice (Ray) Hatfield and Harold Jr (Shelly) Steinhoff.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Dustin and infant daughter Sara, sister Janet Von Ruden, sister-in-law Mary Sturdevant and brother-in-law Richard Foster.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, December 26 at 12 Noon at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Doylestown with Father Steven Kortendick presiding. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service at the church.
