Paul Daniel Lien, of Rio, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 after a seven year battle with Multiple Sclerosis with his loving family by his side.
Paul was born in Portage, WI on Sept 7, 1969 to Douglas M. and Sherrie J. (Godt) Lien. He had fond memories of growing up in Rio and recalled it as being a “wonderful childhood”. After graduating as Salutatorian from Rio High School in 1987, he attend the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater graduating with a BA in Business in 1991. He continued his education by teaching himself computer programming and was employed as an IT programmer in the Madison area.
In 1998, he was blessed with a son, Ryan. He was a loving and devoted father and created many fond memories with his son. A thoughtful man, Paul studied philosophy, biology, religion, as well as the works of Emerson, Thoreau, and others. Together with his growing son, they built a small ‘cabin’ in the woods. Paul loved this quiet setting and found it in tune with his heart. Paul gifted his family and friends with his wit and gentle nature and will be greatly missed.
Paul is survived by his son Ryan, parents Douglas and Sherrie Lien, brother Eric (Jen) Lien, sister Heather (Ray) Canales, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.
