Leona M. Evans, 81 of Rio, passed away peacefully Friday, May 24, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison surrounded by her family.
She was born December 6, 1937 in Arena, WI, the daughter of Roy and Lilly Davenport. She was united in marriage to Walter Evans August 25, 1956. She was employed at Racine Glove Factory/Jaxco for 53 years. Leona was an avid Wisconsin sports fan. She also enjoyed socializing with her family and friends, fishing, camping, and snowmobiling.
Survivors include her husband Walter of Rio; sons Richard (JoAnn) Evans of Cambria and Wally (Mitzi) Evans of Oxford; grandchildren April Evans, Jim (Jennifer) Evans, Michael Evans, and Matthew Evans; great grandchildren Tyler, Jordon, and Lexi Schmelzer, Michaela, Austin, and Maddie Evans, and Sawyer, Ashton, and Brady Evans; siblings Jim (Lorraine) Davenport, Mary Grotze, Roxanne (Wayne) Rohn, Ron (Nancy) Davenport and Carol (Dave) Kampen and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Roy and Art Davenport.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29 at 11 AM at the Otsego Town Hall, W3199 Hwy 16, Columbus, WI with Pastor Mark Brandel officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio Cemetery in Rio. A reception will follow the burial at the town hall. Visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of services Wednesday.
