John D. Holloway, age 70 of Rio, formerly of Randolph, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, following a 2 year battle with cancer. He was born on May 29, 1947 in Waupun, WI, the son of Stanley and Sheila (Huxley) Holloway. John graduated from Rio High School in 1965. He served his country in the United States Marines from 1968-1970, he was stationed in Da Nang, Vietnam. John married Corinna “Krickett” Sanchez on October 2, 1969. He worked for Wisconsin Power and Light Co. / Alliant Energy as a lineman for 42 years until his retirement. John enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, hunting and working with trees, camping and RVing, but most of all spending time with his family. He was a member of the Randolph VFW.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years Krickett; his sons, Jeff and Mike Holloway; and his grandchildren, Jennifer, Steven, Scott and Stefanie Holloway. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother George Holloway.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 from 2pm until 5 pm at the GRASSE FUNERAL HOME 401 Angel Way Rio. with military honors to be conducted at 2 pm. The family would like to thank the staffs of Dean Clinic in Columbus, including Dr. Frontiera, Columbus Community Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital Madison and St. Clair Hospital, Baraboo radiology department for all the care they have give John.
