Jean E. Bauer, 87 of Wyocena, passed away peacefully Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Columbia Healthcare Center surrounded by her family.
She was born Christmas Day, 1930 in Leeds to Marshall and Agnes (Sanden) Hazard. She attended Poynette schools and graduated in the class of 1948. She was married to Rolland I. Bauer in 1950. They were blessed with three children. She worked at the state capitol in Madison, substitute secretary for the Arlington School, drove school bus for the Rio School District, and as a bookkeeper for the Columbia Healthcare Center, retiring in 1993. She had a love for gardening, mowing lawn, and watching birds. She also enjoyed playing cards and dominos with friends and family.
Survivors include her children, Susan M. Bauer Frye of Portage, Kim R. (Pam) Bauer of Wyocena, and Jan M. (Jim) Hyatt of Germantown, MD; grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Devers of Watertown, Patti (Bruce) Hutchinson of Poynette, Kendra (John) Abbott of Tuscaloosa, AL, Jon Frye of Poynette, Cari (Mark) Ferrante of Germantown, MD, Kimberly Hyatt of Shepherdstown, WV, Breeann Bauer of Austin, TX, and Nate Bauer of Wyocena; great grandchildren, Ethan, Cora, and Grace Hutchinson, Paige and Elizabeth Devers, and Holly and James Ferrante; sister June Werner; brother Stanley (Pat) Hazard; many nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and many special neighbors she has had throughout her lifetime.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Josh Frye
Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 4 PM at the Family Life Center (Rio Assembly of God) with Rev. Shaun Hardie officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Visitation will be held from 2 PM until the time of services at the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Columbia Healthcare Center for their care of mom. Jean will be remembered as “Grandma Jean” and “neighbor” to all who knew her.
