Jan L. Jurgerson

Jan Lizbeth Jurgerson died on Thursday, October 26, 2017 after a long struggle with Frontotemporal Dementia.

She was born on August 3, 1953 in Columbus, WI to Wallace and Arlene (Christian) Jurgerson. She graduated from Rio High School in 1971. She married Howard Ursaner in November 1986 and they had a daughter Stephanie in 1990.

Jan worked for Madison Metro as a bus driver for 3 years. Then at Oscar Mayer for 15 years as well as owning her own cleaning business. Jan’s family, home and the simple things in life were the most important to her. She enjoyed good food and wine and often cooked gourmet dinners for family and friends. When it came to her home, every room she decorated had a sense of beauty and balance. She was wild about antiques and incorporated them throughout her house. Growing orchids and feeding the birds were hobbies she loved. Jan liked to peddle the back roads in summer and in the winter she liked cross-country skiing. She found peace in nature and the outdoors.

Jan is survived by her daughter Stephanie and Stephanie’s father Howard Ursaner, sisters; Jill Landsverk and Holly (Donald) Bach, brothers; John Jurgerson, Jerry (Christi) Jurgerson, Jim (Kim) Jurgerson and  Peter (Lisa) Jurgerson, and very close friend Barb Reed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Joel Jurgerson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4 at 11 AM at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio with Pastor Karrie Landsverk officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of service. Her ashes will be interred at Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in Rio.

We would like to thank all of the many caretakers and friends who helped Jan through this very difficult journey.
