Emery F. Cluppert

Emery Fred Cluppert of the Town of Mackford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at home, at the age of 92 years with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Emery was born January 13, 1925 in the Town of Green Lake to Frederick and Hulda (Meilahn) Cluppert.  He attended the Marquette school until 8th grade then started working at neighboring farms.  On April 5, 1947 he married Twila Elaine Abendroth at the United Methodist Church in Markesan where he was a lifelong member.  She preceded him in death on February 23, 2006 after enjoying 58 years of marriage together. Together with his wife, they owned a dairy farm east of Markesan.  Upon retiring from milking cows in 1996, Emery’s passion was driving his many tractors, working in the fields, playing cards, going downtown to play the gaming machines and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Years earlier he also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his son Don (Denise) and daughter Susan (Jeff) Leahy.  A wonderful grandpa to his grandchildren: Miranda and Shannon Cluppert, Jennifer (Steve) DeVries, Kayla Petruske, Natalie (Aaron Wilson) Haselwood, Cody, Jared, Callie, and Amelia Leahy.   He also was a great grandpa to six great grandchildren: Katelyn, Alyssa, and Joshua DeVries, Caden Petruske, Landon Wilson, and Colton Cluppert.  He is also survived by three brothers: Marvin (Ruth), Russell, and Wilbert (Sue), one sister: Evelyn Schmidt and sister-in-law Grace Cluppert.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, friends and his two German Shepard’s, Sam and Sadie.

He is preceded death by his wife Twila, his parents, Frederick and Hulda, In-laws, Arthur & Martha Abendroth, two brothers: Herbert and Arthur, sister-in-law Muriel, and brother-in-law Leroy Schmidt.

Visitation for Emery will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. with service following at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 74 East Catherine Street, Markesan with Pastor Ethan Larson officiating.
