Bertha A. (Thiele) Briesemeister

Bertha A. Briesemeister, age 103 ½ of Rio, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Tivoli Nursing Center in Portage.

She was born May 20, 1914, the daughter of the late Edmund and Olga (Martin) Thiele. Bertha married Frank Briesemeister March 1939. He preceded her in death in 1977. Bertha loved being outside, tending the flowers, doing yardwork, and gardening. She also enjoyed raising chickens, baking, her pets, painting and traveling. Her truest joy was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She worked at the canning factory for many years and also worked at Wisconsin Cheeseman. Bertha was a strong believer in taking care of what you have.

Survivors include daughters Bernice Thiele, Evelyn Tomczak, and Virginia Olson, grandchildren Steven (Jean), Barbara, Susan, Scott, Sandra, (John), Dan, and Brian, 20 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, son Edward Briesemeister, daughter Gladys Hon, grandchildren Jackie and Jeff Tomczak, brothers Walter, Edward, and Alvin sons-in-law George Tomczak and Larry Olson.

Funeral services will held Saturday, December 30 at 11 AM at Rio Assembly of God Church, N3974 Williams Road, Rio with Rev. Shawn Hardie officiating. Interment will follow at Bonnet Prairie Cemetery in Rio. Visitation will held from 9:30 AM until the time of services Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the family in Bertha’s name. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Tivoli the care they gave Bertha.
