Thomas Hynes Obituary

Pardeeville/Stoughton-Thomas T. Hynes, age 64, lost his battle with cancer on March 28, 2018.  He passed away peacefully at home, with family and friends.

He was born on September 19, 1953 t the Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois.  As a navy brat, he lived in many different parts of the country, and met Carol A. Blumenstein, when his father was based in Sun Prairie and teaching ROTC at the UW Madison.  Tom graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1972 and Madison Area Technical College in 1974. Tom and Carol were married on June 1, 1974. e worked as a Maintenance Mechanic and HVAC Specialist for the State of Wisconsin for 35 years before retiring in 2009. om and Carol lived in the Stoughton area until 2011, when they moved to their dream home outside of Pardeeville.  Tom could fix anything mechanical and fabricate anything out of metal, but give him a piece of wood and he’d measure it six times and still cut it wrong.

Tom enjoyed many hobbies, skiing, boating, motorcycle riding, 4-wheeling, hunting, fishing, trap/skeet shooting and spending time with family and friends, He also enjoyed supervising his neighbor, Jeff, whenever he went into the woods to fell trees or cut wood. Tom loved to cook, and whether it was wild game, biscuits and gravy, his mother’s kapusta or his favorite Emeril Lagasse recipe, nobody ever left the table hungry. e was very active in AKC Retriever Hunting Tests, both as a competitor and as a judge.  He was a member of the Madison Retriever Club for many years and joined the Wisconsin Amateur Field Trial Club after moving to Pardeeville.  Tom loved training and competing with his Golden Retriever, “Skoal”, earning Junior Hunter, Senior Hunter and Master Hunter titles.  As a respected Hunting Test judge he was invited to judge events in many states, including being invited to judge for the Fairbanks Retriever Club, in North Pole, Alaska.  After the judging assignment was completed, Tom and Carol spent two weeks sightseeing in Alaska.  It was the trip of a lifetime.  Tom was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all that knew him.

Tom is survived by his wife, Carol, son Larry (Joan) Hynes, grandchildren, Clarissa and Corbin Hynes, sister Deane (Joe) Naylor, brother Tim Hynes, in-laws Wayne (Virginia) Blumenstein, Diane (Michael) Parduhn, Janice Blumenstein, James (Nadine) Blumenstein, Ron Blumenstein, golden retrievers Skoal, Cruz, Styx  and Flash, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, TC  and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Laura Hynes and in-laws Robert and Luella Blumenstein, Jeffrey Blumenstein, Zachery Smith, Christopher Blumenstein and Kyle Blumenstein.
