Thomas J. Humphrey

Thomas J. Humphrey, age 60 of Madison, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Mary Hospital in Madison.

He was born on July 8th, 1957 to the late Alice (Jannke) and James R. Humphrey and he grew up in rural Rio, WI. He attended the Rio School District graduating in 1975. Tom spent his adulthood within the city of Madison, WI. The pride of Tom’s life was his Children Joseph Humphrey (Aiden) and Angela (Katrina and Leonardo).  

Tom worked for Brinks, Inc. and Madison City Streets Dept. until he took early retirement due to health issues. Tom was a member of the Blooming Grove Fire Department for 20 plus years where he was involved in Fire/Rescue and EMS. He was an Ordained Minister since 2013 performing several Marriages in Wisconsin and even one in Iowa. He also worked for Badger Bus service in recently years.  Tom spent several hours volunteering at the Helping Hands Homeless Shelter located in Madison.

Tom will be remembered for his broad smile and joking nature. He loved spending time with family and friends that were like family sharing in his wit and dry humor.

Survivors include his children: Joseph J. Humphrey (Son Aiden) of Madison, Angela L. Humphrey (daughter Katrina and son Leonardo) of Milwaukee, sister, Julie (Kyle) Allender of Jefferson, IA, along with nephews Matthew (Cassandra) Bednarik, Kurtis (Kristin Klocksiem) Bednarik and niece Kaitlin (Jared) Dahl. Including his two beloved dogs Squirtly and Kia, AKA “The Girls”.

He was preceded in death by his parents James R. & Alice D. Humphrey and a sister, Patrice Ann Humphrey.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19 at 1 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rio. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of service.
