Welcome to the memorial page for

Thomas J. Bohnsack

May 4, 1943 ~ November 12, 2017 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Thomas J. Bohnsack 74, of Pardeeville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday November 12th.

He was born in 1943 in Madison WI, the son of Jay and Eunice Bohnsack. He graduated from Monona Grove high school and enlisted in the Navy. He spent two years on active duty and two years in the reserves.

He married the love of his life Jean (Dixon) on April Fools day in 1967 and they shared their love of each other for over 50 years. From their marriage two children were born, son James and a daughter Sarah, and in 1992 they adopted another daughter, Tammy.

Tom had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed tinkering in his shop and working on home improvement projects. He had a passion for bowling and achieved multiple 700 series and a perfect 300 game. He was known for his sense of humor and always had a goofy joke to tell followed by a quick smile. He was also very generous with his hugs and kisses. Singing and playing his guitar were his escape and he became an accomplished guitarist who could play songs by ear instead of reading music.

Tom was very generous and caring and he did everything he could for his family. If something was broken, Dad could fix it. There aren’t any of our homes that don’t have dad’s workmanship somewhere within them. He was an active father who enjoyed spending time with his kids; whether it was fishing or a game of gorilla ball in the driveway with James and his friends or playing Uno, phase 10, or other card games with Sarah and Tammy. He also had a great love of his grandkids and spent many nights playing games or watching silly movies with them.

Tom is survived by his wife Jean, his son James, his daughters Sarah (Fay) and Tammy (Nehring). His grandkids include Zachary, Torianna, Alexandra, Jacob, Tallon, Finley and Madison. Tom was born into a family of nine kids and is survived by his sisters Judy (Lyle) Harbort, Susie (Ed) Iannuccilli, Nadene (Tom) Lawrence, Nancy Smith, Cheryl (Jim) Lustig, and Janelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother Jay and his sister Jackie.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Agrace Hospice for the wonderful care Tom received so he was able to be home through his battle. To Tom’s team of doctors at the Carbone Cancer Center, thank you as well. To Brianna ….you will always hold a special place in Tom’s heart. To his “honey” Becky, your support for Tom and Jean through this has been priceless, thank you. And to Richie Belshaw, you were an amazing best friend to Tom since childhood and he loved you dearly.

A celebration of Tom’s Life will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the GRASSE FUNERAL HOME, 119 Industrial Drive Pardeeville, Memorials may be made in Tom’s name to Agrace HospiceCare or to the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
