Stephanie M. Foxx

Stephanie Marie Foxx, age 48, of Rio, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 14th, 2017 at the UW Hospital in Madison.

She was born on November 23, 1968, in Joliet IL, and the daughter of Harvey and Theresa (Thomas) Ekdahl.  She touched many lives caring for others in the many years she had worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  Most recently, she had worked at the Columbia County Nutrition Site.  Stephanie enjoyed many hobbies, including gardening, crafts, jewelry, cooking, hunting, fishing and attending auto races.  Her most notable gift can be seen in her numerous pieces of artwork.  Stephanie loved holidays, her favorites being Halloween and Christmas. 

She is survived by her long-term companion, Steven Desjarlais of Rio; his sons Keith Desjarlais, Greg Desjarlais , his daughters Jenny Desjarlais Tomilson and Sara Krumenauer; her parents Harvey and Theresa Ekdahl of Manistique, MI; her brothers and sisters Helene Mogosanu of Minneapolis, MN, Helene (Bob) McEndree of Anderson, SC, Jonathan Ekdahl (Teresea) of Spring Hill, FL, Veronica (Robert) Oakley of Spring Hill, FL, David (Stacie) Ekdahl of Portage, WI, Benjamin Ekdahl (David) of Lake Delton, WI, Joseph (Jessie) Ekdahl of Chana, IL, Erin Ekdahl (Chris) of Chicago, IL, and Justin Ekdahl of Orlando, FL; her stepson Glenn Foxx of LaValle, WI, her stepdaughters Natalie (Dan) McCauley of Hillpoint, WI, Tanya (Alan) Pyferroen of Cazenovia, WI, Stephanie (Roland) Fry of Wonewoc, WI; her eight step grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, her furry friends Simba, her cat; and Geri, Stewey, and Rigby, her dogs; and many friends and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her biological parents John and Helen Kertes: her husband Charles W. Foxx Jr; and her beloved dog Dusty.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 21, 2017 at 7 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Rio. Visitation will be held from 4 PM until the time of service. In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
