Richard A. MaderMay 7, 1934 ~ June 6, 2017 (age 83)
Richard A. "Dick" Mader passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Randolph Health Services.
Dick was born May 7, 1934 the son of August and Louise (Hilfiker) Mader at Centerville Cheese Factory, Cambria WI. He graduated in 1951 from Cambria High School.
Dick was very proud of his Swiss heritage and his years as a cheese maker with his father. He held his Cheese Makers license until his death .He went on to spend many years as a welder at Busse Bros. of Randolph where he made many lifelong friends, among them Dick Nieman, Jeff Stancer and Brian Gove.
Dick spent his retirement years behind the wheel for Madison Truck Sales and as a driver for his friends in the Amish community including Floyd Hershberger among many others.
Trips to the "hunting shack" were always a great time for Dick with brother in law John Myhre Sr., old friend Tom Olson and generations of relatives and friends. Greatly enjoyed were the Euchre games and deer and turkey hunting. MOST years he enjoyed being a Packer Backer and Badger fan.
He is survived by his wife of more than 60 years Lola A. Mader (Myhre) and children Richard P. "Dick" Mader (Manette Babb), Diane L. Mader (Russell Schramm), Sandra M. Odegaard; grandchildren Jennifer Odegaard (Eric Akuetteh) and Paul Mader Schramm; great grandchildren Jayla and Melo Akuetteh; sister Barb Saunders (Frank), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tom (Audrey) Mader and sister Bernice (Joe) Hausinger. He missed his great friends Tom Olson and John Myhre Sr., and of course, his dear buddies on many trips to the Scott Town Dump, Spike and Teddy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 10 at 11 AM at Rosedale Presbyterian Church with Rev. Merle Bartels officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, June 9 from 6 to 8 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville and again from 10 AM until the time of services at the church Saturday.
The family would like to thank the kind staff from Agrace Hospice Care, the caring staff at Randolph Health Services and Elliott and Rick of Grasse Funeral Services for their professional yet very personal services. With a smile in his heart and always a wisecrack or inappropriate joke to tell, he was a loving husband, father and friend.
