Welcome to the memorial page for

Reynolds S. Baillies

June 30, 1923 ~ June 20, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Reynolds Scott Baillies, age 93, formerly of Madison, passed away at Remington House, Pardeeville on Tuesday, June 20.

Reynolds was born June 30, 1923 on the family farm in Scott Township, first born child to Scott and Olive (Reynolds) Baillies. Reynolds attended grade school at Rosedale in Scott Township and graduated from Pardeeville High School, class of 1942.

Unlike his two younger brothers who were drafted during World War II, Reynolds stayed on the farm to assist his father.  Reynolds worked as a farmhand and was later employed by Oscar Mayer Foods Corp. Madison in 1952 as a meat packer.  Reynolds was promoted to meat inspector in 1965 and retired from Oscar Mayer in 1985. Reynolds was a creative, caring and considerate person, accompanied in life by his soul mate Evelyn Agnew, acknowledging graduations, anniversaries, holidays and birthdays by sending cards, piñatas and giving Christmas gifts to the entire family.

Reynolds enjoyed travelling with Evelyn, friends and family.  One of their most memorable trips was a visit to Hawaii where Reynolds was inspired by and returned with an appreciation for Hawaiian music. Reynolds had an eye for detail and was very well read.  In 1991 Reynolds enrolled in a creative writing class where he submitted stories for Wisconsin Memories in the Neighbors section of the Wisconsin State Journal.  He was pleasantly surprised when some of his stories were published.

Reynolds is survived by sister in laws, Theresa (Tamminga) Baillies Cambria, Betty Ann (Eck) Baillies Huntley, IL, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces, great-grand nephews, cousins and friends.

Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents Olive and Scott, significant other Evelyn Agnew, brothers Stewart and Charles, sisters Betty and Mary Welk-Rode, brother in laws DeForest Welk and Eldon Rode.

Funeral services for Reynolds will be held Monday, June 26 at 11 AM at Rosedale Presbyterian Church, W3495 Hwy 33, rural Cambria, Rev. Merle Bartels officiating.  Burial will follow in Marcellon Cemetery, Hwy 44, Pardeeville.  Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used to benefit Remington House and Rosedale Presbyterian Church.
