Welcome to the memorial page for

Orlando M. Allen

January 22, 1930 ~ May 29, 2017 (age 87) 87 Years Old

Orlando Mark Allen, age 87, of Pardeeville/ Township of Wyocena, passed away peacefully Monday, May 29, 2017.

He was born on January 22, 1930 to Warren and Mary (Roberts) Allen. He attended Pleasure Hill School, a one room school house in the country, through 8th grade. He graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1947 where he was a proud member of the first Dual County Conference Championship football team.

After graduation, Orlando enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War, where he was an engine mechanic on C 74 aircrafts. Through the Air Force, Orlando earned his Associate Degree. On December 26, 1952, Orlando married Beryl Ann Babcock. Together, they raised four daughters on their farm in the Township of Wyocena. Orlando was the Township of Wyocena Chairman and Supervisor for many years. He was a member of the American Legion, Pardeeville Post 215. Orlando worked at GIC (now Everbrite) for many years, which sparked Orlando’s passion for the trucking industry. Orlando and Beryl were the proud owners of Land O’ Goodness Trucking Inc. for over twenty years. Never being one to sit idle, after retiring from the trucking industry, Orlando began driving Amish families. Orlando treasured the friendships he made with these families over the years.

Orlando never missed an opportunity to let others know how proud he was of his family. You could see him, beaming with pride, sitting in the stands of his kids’ and grandkids’ softball, baseball, football, and basketball games as well as many different 4-H activities and animal shows. He was extremely proud that all four of his grandkids furthered their education beyond high school and enjoyed hearing of their various accomplishments.

Survivors include his wife Beryl of 64 years; three daughters, Laurie (Richard) Bussian of Columbus, Barb Allen of Pardeeville, Julie (Chris) Duerst of Pardeeville; four grandchildren, Mark, Nathan (Kelli), and Andy (Morgan) Bussian, and Katie Duerst; four great-grandchildren, Garrett and Meredithe Campbell, Brayden Bussian (who lovingly referred to him as “Grandpa Pop Pop”), and Ella Bussian. He is further survived by brother and sisters in law, many nieces, nephews and friends, all whom were very dear to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father in-law, Hazel and Earl Babcock; daughter Annette (Dede) in 2012; brothers Roger and Merwin Allen; and sisters Amanda Doherty and Janette Sampson.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 2 from 3 to 7 PM at Grasse Funeral Home, 119 Industrial Drive, Pardeeville.  Funeral Services will also be held Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 11 AM at Grasse Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 10 AM. Burial with Military Honors performed by the Legion Post 215, will follow at Wyocena Cemetery.
