Nancy Kent of Pardeeville, died September 16, 2017 after a difficult battle with dementia.
Nancy was born April 20, 1934 in Berwyn, IL to Walter and Jane (Allen) Dierks. She grew up in Lagrange, IL. Nancy met the love of her life, Wilbur (Bill) Kent on a train coming back to Illinois from the college they both attended; Culver Stockton in Canton, MO, Nancy and Bill married August 26, 1953 in Lockport, IL. The marriage was blessed with a daughter Laurie and a son Wilbur (Bert). After living in Oak Park and Hinsdale, they moved to Carol Stream, IL where they resided for 11 years and then they moved to Pardeeville in 1975. Nancy worked as a polling place clerk and sales clerk in Illinois and at the Pardeeville Nutrition site, K-Mart, and her “happy place”, Pick’N Save (Pierce’s) in Wisconsin. She was an avid knitter and gardener. For the past three years, she has resided in the Remington House in Pardeeville.
Nancy is survived by her son Bert, daughter Laurie (Mark) Deakins, grandchildren; Lisa Deakins and Nathan Deakins (fiancé Nicole Grady). She is also survived by her sister Sue Ramsay, sister-in-law Gwen Doppler, and nephews Kirk, Drew, and Black Horter and Doug and Andy Ramsay. Nancy will also be missed by her many co-workers and friends at Pick’N Save
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, nephew Larry, niece Darcy and brothers-in-law Bill Doppler and Bob Ramsay.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 20 at 6:45 PM at Grasse Funeral Home in Pardeeville. Visitation will be held from 3:30 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity in Nancy’s memory. The family is extremely grateful to the staff and friends at the Remington House who treated Nancy with kindness, respect, and love and for being her family.
