Evelyn A. Koellen

Evelyn A. Koellen, age 101 of Portage/Watertown, died Friday, February 16, 2018 peacefully in her sleep at the Columbia Health Care Center.

She was born July 13, 1916 in the Madison area to Edward Schaeffer and Erma Peck. She married Joseph Walter Koellen in 1932. They farmed in rural Watertown until they retired in 1971 and moved to Watertown. Evelyn moved to Briggsville in 1993 where she lived until moving to the Columbia Health Care Center in Wyocena.

Survivors include four children Robert (Barb) Koellen, Audrey Wojculis, Arlene Retterath, and Tom Koellen, 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, one daughter Agnes, one son Lloyd, one grandson baby Lloyd, and two sons-in-law John and Mike.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 22 at 11 AM at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Patrick Wendler presiding. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery in Watertown. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Columbia Health Care Center for the superb care they gave Evelyn. They are the best caregivers and Evelyn enjoyed them all. God Bless them all, they made Evelyn’s time there so pleasant.
