Catherine Juene (Sommers) Kamrath

Catherine Juene Kamrath, age 98 of Pardeeville, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Tivoli Nursing Center in Portage.

She was born October 25, 1919 in the town of Scott, Columbia County, the daughter of Walter and Jennie (Miller) Sommers. She attended the Rosedale Grade School and graduated from Pardeeville High School in 1937. She spent several years in Santa Barbara, CA, and was employed at Cottage Hospital.

On June 30, 1951, she married Byron V. Kamrath, they were the parents of six sons. Family vacations were spent traveling all throughout the U.S. and Canada. Juene also attended many Army Air Force Reunions and visiting friends they had kept in touch with since W.W. II. Upon Byron’s retirement, they spent the next 20 years (winters) in Mission, TX. She was a lifelong member of Rosedale Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her five sons, Donald, Douglas, Dale (Deb), Phillip (Mary) all of Pardeeville and Rick (Renee) of Rockton, IL; eleven grandchildren, Craig, Derek, Katie, Shealyn, Jorie Ann, Rebecca, Ben, Jennifer, Jonathan, Cody and Christian Kamrath; two sisters-in-law Mary Sommers and Geraldine Kamrath and other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Byron; son Glenn; brothers Wesley, Rodney, Maurice, and Merwyn Sommers and sister Evelyn Sommers.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 2 PM at the ROSEDALE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH W3495 Hwy 33, Cambria in Scott Township with Rev. Merle Bartels officiating. Interment will follow at Marcellon Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11 AM until the time of services at the church. A meal and time of fellowship will be held at Grasse Funeral Home, 119 Industrial Drive, Pardeeville following the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made in Juene’s memory. The family would like to Thank Dr. Blohm and the staff at Tivoli in Portage for all the care they gave Juene.
